About

Annie Edney is a multi-disciplinary Melbourne based artist who has extensive experience creating site-specific celebratory events with themes of environment and social harmony.  She works consistently with environmental themes, often with Indigenous people, and also has a keen interest in ritual, ceremony and celebration.

In her studio practice Annie is exploring our human relationship with the earth energy at a cellular level, investigating the process by which we assimilate information from external factors into our emotional selves, pertinently the energy of the earth.  Her exploration includes personal genealogy and metempsychosis, geology and earth energy, subjective experience and social history.

Currently Edney is experimenting with the idea of Contemplative Activism via video.  Her videos trigger an involuntarily drop into stillness, a state of contemplation, the essential place for imagining perceptive wise solutions and the best future for our planet.

She is represented in private and public collections including the City of Yarra, Museum of the Riverina, Macquarie University, and the Abbotsford Convent.

Edney’s videos have been shown in Anima Mundi, Venice, 2017, the Istanbul Biennial 2016, Melbourne Art Loop, 2016 and 2017, curated by MARS Gallery and Chin Chin projection wall, Flinders Lane, Melbourne 2017.
